NAIC Releases Initial Analysis of ACLI'S Capital and Surplus Relief Proposal
On January 2, 2009, the NAIC's Executive and Plenary Committees held a joint conference call to discuss the status of the American Council of Life Insurers' proposal for certain regulatory and accounting changes to provide "important near-term relief from conservative reserve and risk-based capital standards." Over 220 parties reportedly listened to the conference call. Many commissioners did not participate directly and were represented by staff.
